The workplace has become more and more casual over the years. Men, far and wide, are going to work in comfortable clothes. No more restricting button down shirt and tie choking off their oxygen supply. As a result,, there are a multitude of lonely ties out there, stuffed in drawers, hidden in closets ........forgotten and ignored. I say let's free the ties and give them a new role. Here is one way to give these neglected artifacts a useful and attractive purpose.
I have been collecting ties for some time. Here it begins on the Gold Coast where I discovered the wonderful thrift shops so common in the USA. For the price of $1 per tie I bought as many as I could stuff in my suitcase.
Since then I have searched, scrounged, scavenged, rummaged, taken generous donations, and commissioned family and friends to keep a lookout for ties.

As a result, I have quite a hefty collection of ties.

I chose blue and brown shaded ties, cut them, and arranged the colors and patterns.
I saved the inner tags for some cool detail work on other projects.

I sewed a very small seam on the inside edge of each tie. Ties are on the bias and have a slippery satin finish. This makes them rather tricky to get a smooth and straight result.
For the waist band I used a navy T-shirt. Cut and stitch! Comfy!!!!!
I added a small belt for some eye-catching detail.
A tie skirt! So comfy to wear, and one of a kind! I love it!
