I love denim! Whenever I am shopping I gravitate toward the denim section, shirts, pants, dresses, bags, or skirts. It doesn't matter.
So when I saw this long jean skirt at Value Village for $4.00 I was thrilled. Cute front pockets! Slim fitting. Perfect!
The quick try-on in the teeny change room showed it was a perfect fit. However, being a long limbed girl who has always had trouble with the length of clothes, it felt too short as I wore it for a longer period of time. So........

The first cut! I had to watch the placement of long split in the back.
I found this pair of XXXXLarge shorts at Giant Tiger for $1.00. They are made of high quality denim and have interesting details that will be used on my bags.
The legs are wide enough to fit the skirt and I won't need extra seams. The light blue is in contrast with the shirt color.

I sewed it down leaving a small edge that will fray with washings.

I cut pieces of paper in a paisley shape and pinned them in what I consider (and hope) is a cool pattern.
Then I cut the skirt around the paper patterns.

I sewed more of the short's denim behind the holes. I left a small edge, again, for fraying.
Now that's better! You will be seeing this skirt in action paired with my next refashioned top. I am just waiting for an exciting action photo opportunity.
